Application analysis

Establish fire-system requirements before component selection.

Identify the fire-system type, design basis, project acceptance authority and owner/insurer requirements. Prepare the component schedule against those requirements, including product-specific listings and installation conditions where required.

Mark supply connections, isolation and distribution zones on the system drawings. Include hydraulic calculations, sprinkler layout, alarms, seismic restraint and commissioning within the fire-protection design package. Use the concept figure to discuss interfaces; use the project drawings for installation.

Prequalification

Check whether the exact product and service have the required evidence.

Document schedules

Map proposed parts to named approvals and their limitations.

Project coordination

Prepare a clear interface and responsibility schedule for design review.

Concept arrangement / 10

Part-number starting points

Components to review.

Review catalogue dimensions, materials and connection types alongside the service schedule. Add selected part numbers to your enquiry.

Specify the size, pipe outside diameter, material, seal, joining system and tool. Include the intended duty and required product acceptance documents with the enquiry.

Prepare the next conversation

A focused application brief.

  1. System type and adopted design standard
  2. Country and authority/insurer requirements
  3. Required listings and exact component schedule
  4. Approved design conditions and connection details
  5. Responsible fire-protection designer and test plan

Questions worth resolving

Before the specification is fixed.

What evidence is needed for a proposed component?

Match the manufacturer, product, size, service and installation conditions to the project’s required acceptance documents.

What belongs in the complete fire-system package?

Include the system drawings, hydraulic calculation, component schedule, alarm/control interfaces, restraint details and commissioning requirements.

How should a component with missing acceptance evidence be handled?

Resolve the documentation before specification or select a component with the required evidence for the intended use.
