Application analysis

Connect thermal plant, distribution and terminal loads.

Start with the load schedule and the water-side requirements of the selected equipment. Record supply/return temperatures, flow, pressure limits and fluid composition, including glycol type, concentration and treatment additives.

Coordinate plant connections, isolation valves and distribution branches with the mechanical layout. Define insulation, condensation control, drainage, venting and movement allowances. Include pump and heat-exchanger duty data in the design package.

Chilled-water plant

Coordinate equipment-side connections with the distribution header.

Heat-pump systems

Review the secondary water circuit and package interfaces.

Heat-exchanger modules

Keep the two fluid circuits and their specifications separate.

Part-number starting points

Components to review.

Review catalogue dimensions, materials and connection types alongside the service schedule. Add selected part numbers to your enquiry.

Specify the size, pipe outside diameter, material, seal, joining system and tool. Include the intended duty and required product acceptance documents with the enquiry.

Questions worth resolving

Before the specification is fixed.

Which equipment interfaces belong in the brief?

List heat sources, heat exchangers, pumps and terminal connections, with the water-side connection requirements of each package.

How should movement be addressed?

Document thermal movement, anchors, guides and the permitted movement of selected components in the mechanical design.

What governs the connection choice?

Use the fluid, design conditions, dimensions, joining system, installation access and maintenance requirements.
