Application analysis

Define the process and secondary-utility boundary.

Prepare a service-by-service fluid schedule with composition, concentration, contaminants and operating/design conditions. Identify process streams separately from secondary cooling water and general equipment utilities.

Mark the heat-exchanger or process-package boundary on the drawings. Review wetted materials, seals, joining methods, containment, isolation and inspection requirements for the documented duty. Record material compatibility and the project design basis in the component schedule.

Secondary cooling water

Review a defined utility circuit separated from process fluids.

Equipment service packages

Resolve the utility-side interfaces of a process skid.

Plant modification briefs

Build a traceable service and document schedule before selection.

Concept arrangement / 12

Part-number starting points

Components to review.

Review catalogue dimensions, materials and connection types alongside the service schedule. Add selected part numbers to your enquiry.

Specify the size, pipe outside diameter, material, seal, joining system and tool. Include the intended duty and required product acceptance documents with the enquiry.

Prepare the next conversation

A focused application brief.

  1. Complete fluid composition and concentration
  2. Normal, upset and design conditions
  3. Applicable piping code and service category
  4. Process/utility boundary and equipment drawings
  5. Material, seal and inspection acceptance requirements

Questions worth resolving

Before the specification is fixed.

What defines chemical compatibility for selection?

Use the fluid composition, concentration, contaminants, temperature and exposure conditions to assess all wetted materials and seals.

Where should the utility/process boundary be shown?

Mark it at the heat exchanger or process package and identify the fluid and design conditions on each side.

Which documents belong in the component schedule?

Include the fluid specification, material/seal assessment, design conditions and the required inspection, testing and product acceptance records.
